A personal approach to customer service

However you choose to deal with us, we pride ourselves on offering a personal service whenever you speak to us, whether it’s by phone, email or in branch.

Our Mortgage Customer Service team helps borrowers with queries, including support for those worried about meeting their mortgage payments. They also provide borrowers with details of follow-on products when their current deals expire.

As well as through our branches, savers also benefit from Mansfield Online, our online savings portal where Members can view their savings accounts and our eSaver customers can transact.

Our community commitment

Our dedication to our community is not just about our presence on the high street, we also regularly donate to charities and community groups, and colleagues are actively encouraged to get involved in volunteering and fundraising.

We reflect our community commitment in our products too. We offer savings products exclusively for Local and Loyal customers – existing Members and those living in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

Among our Local and Loyal accounts are our Community Saver accounts, where we commit to donating a proportion of the total balances to our Charitable Trust that supports a wide range of charitable projects.

A strong and secure business model

We started out in 1870 as a building society, built on social need, and we remain true to our founding principles. Our focus is on the financial wellbeing of savers and mortgage borrowers, not on making profit for shareholders.

As a result, we won’t gamble with your money. Each year we publish our financial accounts and invite our Members to attend and speak directly to our Board members at our AGM.

Our building society model supports strong growth. In 2024, we held over £468million in savings balances and had a mortgage book of just over £446million. If you want to know more about our financial performance, just visit our Corporate Information page.

Like other banks, building societies and credit unions, savings with us are protected up to £85,000 under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
