How it works

DirectID is a safe, easy and convenient way for you to provide us with access to your bank statements online. You’ll be asking your bank to share your statements with us for a limited time only and you can revoke your consent at any time via your own banking platform.

Connecting to your bank is simple and, once you’ve given your consent to your bank, we are notified automatically:

  1. Connecting to your bank: After choosing to connect, you’ll be asked to select your bank from the logos provided or via a search bar on the DirectID webpage. You’ll then be directed to your bank’s login page, where you’ll be asked to login normally, including any two-factor authentication.*
  2. Verification processed: once you’ve given your consent, we’ll be notified automatically and be able to view your statements online for a limited period. We won’t be able to interact with your account in any other way.

*Many banks use two-factor authentication, such as sending a code to your mobile or by the use of a special security device. Before you login, please ensure you have familiarised yourself with your bank’s online process and have the right devices to hand.

How we use the data and the benefits of DirectID

As mentioned, when you’ve given us consent, we’ll only be able to view your online bank statements for a limited time. By doing this online, it will help us verify your identity and validate your income and expenditure more quickly than we would when using PDF documents or via paper-based submissions.

Receiving your bank statements quickly and securely online allows us to analyse them and process your mortgage application or Decision in Principle as quickly as possible.
