* AER (Annual Equivalent Rate) illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once each year. AER’s on the Monthly Income account assume interest is added to the account each month although in practice the option to have interest added in this way is not available.
+ The gross rate is the contractual rate of interest payable before the deduction of income tax.
# After deduction of income tax at 20%.

^Tax free means exempt from UK income and capital gains tax in the hands of the investor.

Additions & Withdrawals
The minimum transaction level after the account is opened is £100 and this applies to both receipts and withdrawals. Additional deposits may be made up to the total maximum of £400,000. No cash deposits will be accepted. A maximum of 1 withdrawal may be made without notice or loss of interest during the introductory premium period. Additional withdrawals during the introductory premium period are subject to the loss of 180 days interest on the amount withdrawn. Closure during the introductory premium period is subject to the loss of 180 days interest on the closing balance if 1 withdrawal or more has been made during the introductory premium period. At the end of the introductory premium period withdrawals are available without notice or loss of interest.
General information
The AER/Gross rates include an introductory premium of 1.00% payable for the first 12 months. The introductory premium is limited to one premium for the first Postal Premium account opened whether in single or joint names. All transactions must be conducted exclusively through the postal system to ensure an efficient processing system although receipts by standing order are acceptable. Confirmation of any change to the interest rate paid will be notified to you personally within 30 days. For security reasons we cannot accept payments into the account by cash. Cash deposits will be returned without any liability on our part. Interest can be credited to another account with the Society or transferred to your Bank or Giro account.

Our savings accounts are exclusively available to United Kingdom residents. Our savings accounts are only available to non-United Kingdom residents if they are already an existing member.

If you have more than £400,000 in the Society in either single or joint names please mention this to our staff as the Society's usual maximum holding is £400,000.
