Nigel Quinton, Chief Executive
Thank you for considering "The Mansfield" for your financial needs.
It is with great pride that I speak to you as Chief Executive of The Mansfield Building Society. It is a real pleasure to work with an experienced team dedicated to providing members and stakeholders with the very best products and services.
Equally, our community values are important to all at The Mansfield. Staff are encouraged to become involved with organisations improving the quality of life for others in our heartland. Additionally the Society supports various causes and charitable organisations through our Community Support Scheme. With the help of two independent panel members we have processed in excess of 50 successful applications for support throughout our main operating area. These activities are core to our principles and I am committed to keeping this emphasis central to our culture – we will continue to make a difference.
On the financial front, we have a strong balance sheet that is the envy of many in the financial services sector. This has been organically grown over many years through prudent lending. The majority of our mortgages are low loan to value and secured on residential owner-occupied homes. We do not have any sub- prime lending, mortgage backed treasury investments and only a small number of commercial mortgages. We know precisely what is in our mortgage book and are pleased with its very high quality. The quality of the mortgage book stands the Society in good stead in these challenging market conditions.
We are also developing our IT systems and on-line facilities for the benefit of customers. Borrowers can now apply for a mortgage online and the facility is soon to be extended to professional mortgage intermediaries. The next phase of the development work will include an on-line investment account to compliment our range of competitive branch based and postal savings accounts.
