Chairman of the Board
Appointed to the Board as a Non-Executive Director in 1995 and currently holds the position of Chairman. Nigel is a Chartered Surveyor and the Senior Partner of W. A. Barnes Chartered Surveyors, Valuers, Auctioneers and Estate Agents of Sutton in Ashfield.

Nigel Tamplin
Vice Chairman
Joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in May 2006 following a successful 28 year career with international accounting firm KPMG. Nigel joined KPMG in 1977 as a qualified chartered accountant, becoming a partner in 1981. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Simon Brister
Director
Simon was appointed to the Board in May 2007 and is a practising solicitor. He is National Property Manager for the Youth Hostel Association. Simon has over 30 years of legal experience and was previously principal partner in a Mansfield based firm of solicitors. He is also a former lecturer in law at Chesterfield College.

Christine Morris
Director
Joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in May 2007. With a background in marketing, Christine was Commercial Director of an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport until June 2006. Christine has a wealth of business knowledge with particular expertise in marketing.

Richard Smith
Director
Prior to joining the Board as a Non-Executive Director in December 2002, Richard was Area Corporate Manager for a major bank looking after businesses in Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire. He is a Director of Stopford Consulting Ltd providing financial and strategic planning and advice.

Joined the Society in February 2005 as Director of Finance and Information Systems and Society Secretary. Nigel has extensive building society experience having spent over 16 years in senior accounting positions with large regional and national societies.
Appointed as Chief Executive on 14 August 2008.

Darren Garner
Finance Director & Society Secretary
Darren joined the Society in July 2008 from a large international bank and was appointed to the Board on 14 August 2008. He is responsible for all aspects of the Society’s finances and, as Society Secretary, for all areas of corporate governance.
